Ultrasonic Solutions for Environmental Problems

Applications

Anti-Fouling Systems for Cooling Tower Systems

With water temperatures ranging from 95° to 115° and sediment and nutrients providing the food source for growth of algae and bacteria, cooling tower systems create ideal conditions for biofilm growth. The most widely used chemicals, chlorine and methyl bromide, generally will control biofilm in the systems. However, during peak requirements of hot and humid weather, dosages may be higher than are healthy for the environment.

Research has shown conclusively that ultrasound keeps cooling towers free of bacteria and other fouling organisms. Based on this research, EnviroSonic Ltd of the UK has developed an ultrasonic system specifically designed for use in cooling towers. The “patent pending” anti-fouling system uses a combination of unique frequencies and wave shapes emitted from small, compact, powerful transducers. In addition to enhancing the performance of chemical treatments or eliminating chemical treatments, operational costs saving of over 80% can be achieved.

Envirosonics offer an affordable method for improving the performance of the cooling tower system without increasing chemicals or retrofitting high cost equipment. Two standard systems are available, an in-line piping system and a single unit for reservoir catch basins. EnviroSonic Ltd. will custom designed systems at additional costs.

Benefits

Anti-Fouling Systems for Irrigation

In irrigation systems, ultrasonic waves destroy fungal and bacterial pathogens resulting in improved seedling survival and plant growth rate.
